Elizabeth Henske, MD

Dr. Henske is the founding Director of the Center for LAM Research and Clinical Care at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA; a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School; an Associate Member of The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard; and a practicing medical oncologist at the Lank Center for Genitourinary Cancer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Henske serves on the International Scientific Advisory Board at the TS Alliance and is a former Board of Directors member and chair of our Science and Medical Committee.

Dr. Henske is best known for her groundbreaking discovery showing mutations in the TSC2 gene cause the sporadic form of LAM. She is a compassionate leader in translational sciences. But her excellence in service goes beyond the lab, the clinic or the board room. For more than 15 years, Dr. Henke has participated in numerous patient-focused conferences and webinars (National TSC Conferences, a World TSC Conference, Regional TSC Conferences, TLF International Conferences, LAM Patient Regional Meetings) providing critical information to assist those living with the daily challenges of TSC and LAM to make the best care decisions possible.

Dr. Henske is a generous collaborator, compassionate advocate, and groundbreaking clinician. Because of her discoveries and dedication, the field of TSC/LAM research and clinical care has been deeply enriched. But greatest of all, she has improved the quality of life, length of life, and hope for a brighter future for every individual and family impacted by these rare disorders.
