Mentoring Program

SRN Mentoring Program

"This program provides a great way to meet with experts in ones field of interest that you might not have connections with otherwise, and who are motivated to help junior professionals excel. " - Jeremy Elliot Orr, MD

The SRN Mentoring Program is an opportunity for all junior SRN members (mentees) to meet with an assigned senior SRN member (mentor) and join in the SRN Assembly reception during the meeting. Through this program, each prospective mentee will be paired up with an individual mentor based on the answers provided in a brief survey about their background, career goals, and objectives.
The overarching goals of the program are to:

  1. Support junior faculty and trainees through individualized mentorship
  2. Increase junior faculty and trainee participation in the SRN Assembly
  3. Improve collaboration between members
  4. Strengthen the future of the SRN Assembly

Expectations for each Mentor/Mentee pair are as follows:

  1. Complete the brief Mentoring Program survey which is available through the ATS.
  2. Once paired, we will notify you of your assigned mentor/mentee.
  3. Mentee and mentors should introduce themselves and start a dialog by virtual or digital means. Mentorship can extend beyond the initial 30-minute virtual meeting if the mentor and mentee choose, but this is not mandatory.
  4. Mentees should identify their specific developmental needs and goals prior to the meeting.
  5. Arrange for a digital/virtual meeting at a time that works for both. Be proactive about communication, while being considerate of each other's time.
