Mentoring Program

SRN Mentoring Program

"This program provides a great way to meet with experts in ones field of interest that you might not have connections with otherwise, and who are motivated to help junior professionals excel. " - Jeremy Elliot Orr, MD

This Mentoring Program is an opportunity for all early-career SRN members (mentees) to connect with assigned senior SRN members (mentors), either at the ATS International Conference or virtually.

Through this program, each prospective mentee will be paired up with an individual mentor based on the answers provided in a brief survey about their background, career goals, and objectives.

The overarching goals of the program are to:

  1. Support junior faculty and trainees through individualized mentorship
  2. Increase junior faculty and trainee participation in the SRN Assembly
  3. Improve collaboration between members
  4. Strengthen the future of the SRN Assembly

Expectations for each Mentor/Mentee pair are as follows:

  1. Complete the brief Mentoring Program survey which is available through the ATS.
  2. Once paired, we will notify you of your assigned mentor/mentee.
  3. Mentors: Please introduce yourself to your mentee prior to the ATS conference (by phone or email).
  4. Mentees:  Please email your CV to your mentor and briefly describe your career goals as well as your goals for the mentorship program.
  5. Arrange to meet virtually or at the ATS Conference in advance of the meeting.  One option that has worked well in the past is setting up to meet just prior to the SRN Assembly business meeting and reception.
  6. When you meet, identify goals for this one-time mentoring experience.
