Update in Pleural Manometry for Routine Thoracentesis

In this ATS podcast, Dr. Matt Schimmel discusses the recent study, "Routine Monitoring with Pleural Manometry During Therapeutic Large-Volume Thoracentesis to Prevent Pleural-Pressure-Related Complications: a Multicentre, Single-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial" with Dr. Robert Lentz. Tune in to hear a review of the history and physiology of pleural manometry, its clinical uses and whether we should be checking pleural pressures in all patients undergoing thoracentesis. Dr. Lentz is an assistant professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University and received his training in pulmonary and critical care medicine as well as interventional pulmonology at the same institution.
